Discounting

The Bystander

You see the problem, feel its weight, and even believe things could change. You just don't believe you're the one who can change them. 'Someone else could do this, but not me.' The gap isn't in your understanding; it's in your permission to act. You're waiting for a qualification or invitation that may never come.

Try this once

This week, do one small thing about a problem you've been leaving for 'someone else.' Not the whole fix, just one step. Notice that you're allowed to take it.

Where this comes from

The Bystander is one of 4 patterns in Discounting, a Transactional Analysis assessment on EgoProfile. The level at which you talk yourself out of a problem before solving it.
